College Football - Aaron Torres Sports
It’s Week 4, and as always I’m ready to talk some college football.
Home teams are in caps, and as always, the point spreads come from www.BetUS.com.

Instead of wasting everyone’s time with innately boring chatter about parlays and home teams covering, let’s just get right into the picks.
As always, home teams are in caps, and the points spreads are courtesy of our friends at www.BetUS.com.
With Tennessee and Florida set to kickoff Saturday at 3:30, the media has spent a lot of time speculating on the rivalry between the two head coaches involved in the game: Urban Meyer at Florida and Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin.
But do they really dislike each other as much as reports indicate?
With only days until kick off, the coaches mutually agreed to get together and clear the air, once and for all explaining the past, with an eye toward the future.
When each asked me, Aaron Torres, to moderate the get together, I gladly accepted. The stipulation being however, that due to intense media scrutiny, the whereabouts of the meeting be kept secret between the three of us.
With our date and meeting spot set, each showed up promptly at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Kiffin in his trademarked, un-tucked, slightly wrinkled white Tennessee polo shirt and visor, and Meyer arriving seconds later in the same blue Florida windbreaker that he wears every Saturday on the sidelines.
While things got off to a predictably shaky start, something surprising happened right around the half way point…
The following is a direct transcript of the conversation among the three of us.
I’ve got a new reason to love college football. And in a year where Tim Tebow returned to Florida for his senior season, Pete Carroll and his crew sing “Lean On Me,” like they’re trying out for American Idol and Ed Orgeron continues to rip off his shirt at a record setting pace, that’s saying something.
His name is Tate Forcier, and he’s the quarterback at Michigan. He’s short, thin and looks more like a Jonas Brother than a major Division I college football player.
no commentsOne week of college football is in the books. And what a very interesting week it was.
Think about it, the two biggest stories of the week included a backup defensive end from Boise State, and a right AC joint. What we couldn’t get Arkansas State’s defensive backs coach a little airtime as well? Welcome to the 2009 college football season my friends.
There were a lot of lessons to be learned in the last 10 days, none more important than knowing that too much gambling in Week 1 might be harmful to your health.

no commentsMy how much things can change in a year.
At this time in 2008, none of us knew what Twitter was (my guess would have been, that roll of the tongue you do when speaking Spanish). We all thought John McCain might be our next President. And no one was quite sure- or cared for that matter- about Tim Tebow’s sexual history.
It was also right around this time that AaronTorres-Sports.com did its first weekly college football preview. I got the ball rolling with an iffy 6-4 opening week, capped with Alabama beating Clemson’s brains in on national television to close things out.
However, two very important things came out of that game: 1. It eventually led to Tommy Bowden’s firing, which I still haven’t heard one Clemson fan complain about 2. A tradition was born on this very website.
I ended up picking 10 games a week, every week, and it morphed into my favorite column to write.
